Tides of Wool

Brand Film
Tides of Wool is a short documentary film and ocean conservation story telling the journey of South African sheep farmer and big wave surfer Jurie Muller. This sustainable surfing documentary showcases his innovative approach to fighting ocean pollution through creating an eco-friendly surfboard made from recycled materials and wool fiber—uniquely combining surfing, farming, and marine conservation

We discovered this environmental storytelling opportunity and developed it proactively into a branded documentary, then aligned it with Corona’s ocean conservation campaign to secure funding through their PR management team in South Africa. The surf documentary premiered at the 2024 World Surf League Championship Tour event at Jeffreys Bay, one of the world’s most iconic surf breaks, before launching globally online. The film screened at international film festivals and sustainability-focused events, earning recognition for its innovative approach to climate change storytelling and marine ecosystem protection. This brand film, produced over four months by a lean video production crew in Johannesburg, resulted in a one-of-a-kind sustainable surfboard that Jurie Muller continues to ride today—demonstrating real-world impact beyond the screen. The wool-fiber surfboard represents a breakthrough in eco-friendly surf manufacturing and circular economy principles.
